They televise the Lightweight Double Sculls event:
They televise Men’s Badminton:
They televise Trampoline:
And they televise Weightlifting:
Or maybe Bossy’s friend Amy just missed it. Is there an Olympic event you’d like to see more of?
Perhaps: Women’s Ending Sentences With Prepositions?
Fencing and table tennis!
Canoe/Kayak! I can’t find it, anywhere, and NBC’s online videos only work for people who subscribe to certain cable companies. Boo!
Oooh, I love Women’s Ending Sentences With Prepositions. Poor Amy. I’ve got to say, though, that I caught some trampoline events on my friend Mark’s 50″ flat screen hi-D TV this past weekend? Trampoline now rocks my world.
I saw some equestrian stuff on MSNBC late one night. I’d like to see more water polo – those men are hot tamales and their little hats make me giggle.
p.s. Hi Ellie!
p.p.s. Look Bossy, no links!
They didnt show any of the gold medal round of the nude leap frog competition
Bossy’s friend Amy should be watching Oxygen– apparently NBC decided that Equestrian was for girls… and aired it on the girl network all last week!
Poor Bossy’s friend Amy. My wee gal is having the exact same problem with the Olympics. Not enough horses. But she’s five, and there are never enough horses for five year olds, as far as I can tell.
No, but if drinking wine was a competition, I bet I’d win.
Bossy, you are very good at making those cartoons! I’m jealous!
I wanted to see the horse stuff, too!!
And for those that cannot get enough of Michael Phelps……
http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/8948/michaelphelpsspeedo1fg1.jpg
not for everyone, so be warned!
More Slip and Slide action!!
Madness would like to see more Underwater Basketweaving and or WINE drinking.
Love,
Madness
I’m still waiting for the All-Nude Olympics. Am I alone here?
Love the artwork, by the way. You ooze talent like a staph infection oozes puss. That’s a compliment, see because getting rid of the puss is a GOOD thing as it reduces the swelling and gets rid of the nasty bacteria. So in short, you’re the bomb.
Am I turning you on yet?
Dara’s link distracted me. I’ve got nothing.
Thanks, Dara;) Photos of MP in a Speedo take precedent over pretty much everything else in my book!
I missed rowing. I like the intensity of the races.
In winter HOlympics, we LOVE to watch curling. We don’t have that here in FL. We don’t have much ice here. Just hurricanes.
Yep. The Oxygen network is airing the “girl” sports. Two nights of Synchronized Swimming (and Bossy better not scoop me on that post).
I don’t blame Amy for being upset.
If I were Amy, I’d get on my high horse, gallop on down to NBC and let them have it.
Synchronized swimming.
I dunno. In equestrian events I think it’s the horse who is the athlete…not so much the rider. But that’s just me. Anyway…horses should have their own Olympics…or any event where the animal does the hard work. I’m just sayin’.
The equestrian events are on Oxygen network at 6pm. I guess only women would be interested so they stuck them there.
Thank you Bossy.
I saw equestrian events on CBC. Lucky me, I live close enough to Canada to get a CBC station with my antenna. (Canadian TV rocks, by the way.)
Personally I’d like to see Bossy take the gold in Women’s Blogging.
If you can catch Canada’s CBC on satellite, you’ll see far more events than those that only cover American medal hopefuls. We tend to broadcast all events whether or not we have key athletes competing for a medal. We’re either unbiased, or figure we have little chance of winning anyway.
I am so over the olympics. I want to see more of Bossy’s olympic artwork.
Shooting. Specifically the pistol events. How did I not know before this year that there were 22 cal pistol events? (Also, anyone can watch the online videos. They don’t know what company you subscribe to. Just pick one that works. It’s what I did.)
Please do some drawings of synchronized swimming and diving.
I think they got rid of this years ago, but whatever happened to synchronized swimming? And what happens to the athletes who used to train for that? Maybe Bossy should investigate, that way I can sleep at night…
Or am I just an idiot, and there really still IS synchronized swimming…?
My #1 complaint about the Olympics is that the TV coverage makes it seem like three events are held every day. I would like to see more of everything, please.
We just put our little guy in martial arts and he’d like to see Tai Kwon Do. I wouldn’t mind a little Rythmic Gymnastics.
And that Phelps link from above? A little disappointing. Maybe he’d just gotten out of the pool though…
I love watching the shuttlecocks or maybe I just love saying shuttlecock?!
Loads of horse action over here in the UK as you’d expect. Our Royal family love it, the queens granddaughter would have entered but her horse was lame. (Probably been shot by now).
I can’t wait for the BMX final. The BMX is amazing, there’s blood and everything. Radical!
I was surprised that they have men’s water volleyball. Everyone tells me it’s water POLO but I’m not biting… I know water volleyball when I see it.
Nahhh, I’m good. Enjoying it all, thanking someone at NBC for not making me watch that Dances With Ribbons thingy. Synchronized floor exercise? Hallmarknastics? I forget.
If equestrianing were an actual sport, maybe they’d show it. Sorry.
And Dara? I’ve finally had enough of MP.
Ooooh – boy do I hate NBC’s Olympics coverage. Everytime I turn to the Olympics it’s either MP swimming or Bob Costas being self-congratulatory. P~~~~ I haven’t seen a moment of gymnastics, rhythmic or otherwise.
On a totally hardly related note: did you know that in China, women’s badminton players are celebrities? Recognized on the street and autograph hounded and everything? What a crazy world we live in.
I’d like to see more interviews that do not include the reporter asking the athlete questions about Michael Phelps. Concentrate on the person in front of you, not Michael Phelps. GAH!
I want to see the potato-chip gorging competition. Because I know there isn’t one competitor in that event who could beat me. I just didn’t enter in time. Too busy eating chips.
Maybe next year.
In High school we used to have an event called the “shot and run”. We would all do shots of tequila then race. First person to cross the finish line still standing would win.
They televised the jumping event – whatever it’s called.
Personally, I’d like to see five full hours of Michael Phelps flexing, Michael Phelps stretching, Michael Phelps shaving his chest, Michael Phelps eating Cheerios, and whatever else Michael Phelps does while nearly naked.
Amy just wasn’t trying. I caught an equestrian event just the other day. The rider was one of the few to have a perfect run on the steeplechase. It was rather exciting. He was from Brazil or someplace like that.
What I’d like to see: The men’s gymnastics post-competition showers.
I like the trampoline. It’s like the coolest gymnastics tricks, without the insincere dancing parts. I don’t especially want to see synchronized swimming. My husband says, sure they are athletic, but that doesn’t make it a sport. would you judge a ballerina? BUT, I do know that my 5 year old daughter is going to be seriously impressed by the dancing/swimming/sparkly make-up. I am looking forward to her reaction.
Olympic air guitar, because if curling can be a sport…
How about anything but women’s beach volleyball? Everytime I turn on NBC, women’s beach volleyball is on. Why? Oh, I know, because it is an excuse to put on women jumping around in bikini’s and call it sports.
I’d just like it if the “good” events (= swimming/gymnastics/track and field) didn’t start at 11:00 pm EDT.
equestrian too.
I saw a flash of the equestrian events in a bar one night. I think they got confused about which button was the button to play the weeks worth of boring lowlights.
Anything without commentary, commentary, commentary, interviews, commentary, commentary, commentary, interviews, commentary, etc.
I heard this acupuncturist stuck needles in his HEAD to represent every one of the country’s represented at the Olympics. That would make some excellent tv. With wine drinking naturally.
I am a horseperson and wish I could see more! I caught a few minutes of the show jumping at high noon the other day but only because my sister saw it and called me. I worked at the Atlanta Olympics for the Equestrian games and there was so much to see and it was so exciting, too bad the media doesn’t agree…
Completely off topic, I just wanted to share that I drove by Obama on my way home from work today. He’s here talking at the local high school.
Women’s softball and BMX bike racing!
Yeah I’d like to see it all be over & done with already!
I would like to see more beach volleyball. NOT.
Michael Phelps looks like an ogre
Mens rings. All day. A channel dedicated to it.
Rawr.
Those drawings are incredible. Carry on.
They put equestrian on prime time here on the opposite bottom side of the globe. It was mixed in with swimming and softball highlights.
Some SAILING would be nice! Geez, hot men, getting all wet – and they DON’T televise it? NBC employs idiots. Or all men.
Ha! My friend Tamsyn rowed at Oxford, and she says lightweight double scull guys are worried about their weight all the time. So they never eat, and they’re really bitchy. She said they’re basically like tall, hairy chicks.
Love your illustrations! How do you do them??
So this isn’t relevant to this post but i loooove your dooce video. She was the first blog i ever read and man, have I discovered she has some frenemies. Hate to be all stalky but I’m adding you to my list first time out cause you’re too effin funny.
GOOD NEWS!! Equestrian slated for Thursday am 10-12 slot sometime.
Synchronized masterbation
we have seen a bit of synchronized swimming in these parts. i was quite impressed with the makeup these girls wore. since i haven’t watched much tv at all i’m not sure what we are missing. somehow the olympics seem like something other worldly here in turkey. i guess i’ve lost part of that american pride i felt when i lived in the states and we won. i have no doubt i’ll find it again when i am back in america.
Bossy’s friend can watch it at NBC.com: http://www.nbcolympics.com/equestrian/video/index.html
Ps- You computer artwork is truly amazing. How long did it take to do all those?
Im sitting here with my mouth agape (is that right?) just in awe of your “paintings”….I mean, look at that trampoline, that is amazingly brilliant!
I think if Bossy hurrys over to china, she can sit on the road and sell her olympic paintings for a lot of money (probably more than google pays, or those ‘per-click’ companies…) And, knowing how the tourists and olympic-attenders are, bossy will soon become an internationally famous artiste!
Seriously, you are fantastic at these paintings. (and I cant even write my name on line.)
Bossy’s friend Amy should know that they had equestrian events on last night during PRIME TIME on Oxygen, at least according to the commercial that I saw.
Just please don’t ask why I was watching Oxygen to begin with.
Thanks Dara…I think! LOL Am I the only one who thinks the placement of the dark colors on that speedo make him look wide in the hips?? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone looking at his HIPS? Anyone? Anyone? Hello? is thing on??
Just think, when the Olympics first began a trillion years ago, it was all men, all nude (so they could be sure they were all men) Ahhh, the good old days!
Missing the equestrian events here too…And thank goodness someone finally fixed Bob Costas’ rug – it was driving me crazy during the opening ceremonies.
Murder checkers.
Dwight from The Office said there would be murder checkers.
Come on, women’s beach volleyball of course. Fantasizing about Bossy playing.
Thank goodness women’s beach volleyball is over! It seems that’s all I ever see when I turn on the TV.
Yes, I’d love to see equestrian. or shooting. or syncro swimming. or taekwondo, judo, greco/roman, you name it wrestling. Why not a taste of something different?
Just keep boxing off my screen. I don’t want to watch people get beaten up.
at risk of offending, maybe it’s the American coverage?? the CBC broadcasts pretty much everything – including LOTS of horses
Judo. And the thing with the twirly ribbons.
I love watching trampolining!
Is it just me, or did the Olympics get really boring after Michael Phelps and women’s gymnastics finished their runs?
I wanna see the Wii become an Olympic sport. It would make me feel like an actual athlete..
My in-laws would like wrestling to be shown. They are on vackay and wanted us to tape it for them and it’s just not on … or else we totally missed it!!!
This is for Bossy’s friend Amy, the winning Horseriding on music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grriGJiZntE
Dutch of course ;)!
These are awesome! you do such a fun job! Love it!
